For the event, the First Responder Network Authority and its partner AT&T distributed 80 ruggedized FirstNet devices to fire, police and incident response teams from Boston and Brookline. Participants used the devices for both push-to-talk and land mobile radio integration applications.

The first responder community gave the system high marks.

“It’s an easy application to learn and utilize. [Police and fire] have been giving me a lot of good feedback and they are pretty excited about it,” said Officer Scott Wilder, director of technology for the Brookline, Mass., Police Department.

    Electronic Engineering received a shout-out by the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System Board’s April newsletter. When asked, we were able to provide a list of devices for statewide system onto our website within 48 hours for public access anytime.
  • EE Provides Radios for Mass Casualty Exercise
    Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) students tested their teamwork and critical thinking skills during a simulated multiple vehicle accident. More than 300 students and faculty participated with paramedic students providing triage and transporting the most critical victims to the hospital. They utilized radio communications to effectively simulate the experience.
  • EE Provides Radios for Summer in the City Free Concert Series
    The Summer In the City Free Concert Series is a free event to extend arts and culture activities from downtown Des Moines to underserved communities and to underutilized public facilities, all the while spurring economic activity in the surrounding neighborhoods.
