EE and Motorola have been heavily involved with getting the University of Northern Iowa onto the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS) before the end of the year.

UNI has decided to join the public safety network for communications because of its reliability, excellent coverage in the area and its connection into the system that all Iowa State Patrol, DPS, DOT, DNR and others will be using in times of emergency.

This project ranges in scope as it requires installation of RF and microwave equipment on top of its facilities. In addition to programming hundreds of subscriber units – both portable and mobiles – EE is onsite helping install and network the antennas and microwave equipment to help UNI’s system function within the larger statewide system.

The new system is replacing an antiquated 15 year-old analog radio system that was experiencing frequent outages that posed a potential threat to safety. In addition to providing excellent coverage for all UNI officials from grounds crews to police, the system will help streamline communications with State Troopers for football games, campus gatherings and other special events.

Stacy Geesaman has worked with Electronic Engineering for 15 years as a Communications and Security Consultant in our Sioux City branch.

What are all of the different “hats” you’ve worn while at Electronic Engineering?

Stacy: I started at Electronic Engineering as a pager sales professional (my, how the world has changed!). After 3 years, my role changed to communications and security consultant covering a wider range of products and acting as a Motorola manufacturer’s representative. I’ve moved from inside sales support to back in the field working with customers every day to find solutions for their problems.

What is the biggest technological change you’ve seen during your time at EE?

Stacy: I would have to say the technology with two-way radios has made the biggest change. Going from analog to digital, the difference in software that allows loads of feature-rich applications like giving alerts, receiving and sending text messages, connecting via Bluetooth and ability to use Wi-Fi, providing GPS tracking and so much more.

What is one thing that readers and friends might be surprised to know about you?

Stacy: I wanted to be a nurse and started school for that before getting into sales. Also, I'm going to be a grandma in December.

What are some of the things you like to do in your free time?

Stacy: Boating with family and friends, movies and cooking new things for the family to try.

Stacy lives in McCook Lake, SD with her husband Mike and three daughters Jade, Jacie, and Jennaca.
