EE has been providing GPS telematics to its customers for nearly ten years and is itself an active user of the product to better manage its service calls, and provide accurate time spent on the job for its customers.
With the Safety Fleet Scorecard standard with the Geotab GPS system, EE can track its drivers' use of seat belts, speeding, idling, hard braking, acceleration, and cornering. EE created this scorecard for its drivers/vehicles and is automatically delivered every Monday. EE drivers drive around 15,000 miles per week. When EE started using the scorecard (only) around 60 days ago, we had over 2,500 instances during the reporting period (no seat belts, speeding, idling, etc.), and in less than 60 days, we have cut that number to less than 400, an 84% decrease.
EE did little more than regularly show the report to its drivers and ask for them to be more cognizant of their driving habits. As with most reports, no one wanted to see their names on the bottom of the list, and simple self-policing made the biggest difference. As a composite score, we went from a safety score of 89% to 96.5% in the recent scorecard report. EE wants its drivers to be safe, operate company vehicles in a safe manner, and be good stewards of the road.
With Geotab telematics, what gets measured gets managed. If you have interest in making your vehicle fleet safer, give us a call.
