Electronic Engineering recently worked with Mainframe Studios on a tailor-made security solution for a project that is one of its kind. It all started with a dream to develop a coworking space for artists at a reasonable rate.
The nonprofit, Mainframe Studios, saw a need to provide affordable lease space for an artist environment to imagine and create while also fostering a community of other folks in the industry. The 160,000-square foot building will eventually house 180 individual studios. This hub needed a unique and specific solution to allow 24/7 constant access to both the coworking space and studios while protecting each individual artists’ assets and creations.
Electronic Engineering worked with the visionaries of the building to provide key solutions for their security needs. Utilizing the latest wireless electronic security, each studio in the facility can be opened and locked with a key fob provided to each artist or by using their own smart phone. The administrators of the credentials turn them on and off with the click of a button which eliminates the possibility of phantom keys from old tenets.
The building seeks to be a public place so that the community can walk the halls, visit open gallery times or even host a wedding reception. To ensure safety and security while still providing access to guests, Electronic Engineering installed the latest touch screen keypad technology that can be programmed and reprogrammed via software.
The architecture of the building is unique – it is rare to find a building without a single 90-degree angle in the entire place! You can imagine the challenge in making sure the valuable equipment and artwork each studio possesses are protected. Integrating 180-degree camera technology, Electronic Engineering could help provide protection and surveillance for the building’s valuable assets.
Electronic Engineering is proud of this project and what is represents to the Des Moines metro community. Mainframe Studios is intended to provide a permanent affordable workspace for artists of all disciplines.
